Invent yourself.

Third Life runs creator accounts end to end. You write who the persona is — it invents their life, photographs it, posts it, and answers the people who reply.

Your models, your keys. Nothing publishes until you accept the face.

What a persona is

A person, not a prompt.

A prompt is rewritten every time you use it, so nothing is ever twice the same. A persona is a folder of documents that stays put, and everything else is generated against it.

  • The body — spec.json

Identity, appearance, style, demeanour, and fifteen attributes that may never change: eye colour, face shape, tattoos, scars, freckles, body proportions. A generation that would drift one of them is refused before the provider is ever called.

  • The character — soul.json

Fourteen fixed properties, each written as prose: how they talk, what they care about, what they will not do. Boundaries are the only mandatory one, because refusals are driven by it.

  • Written together, on purpose

The spec is composed first and handed to the model as context for the soul, so the prose and the data come from one source. Generating both independently and hoping they agree is what makes a persona read as fake.

How it works

Four steps, in this order.

Each one is the input to the next. That is the whole trick.

  1. 01

    Write who they are

One sentence in — "a climber who moved to Lisbon" — and a spec and a soul come out. Re-ask for either on its own; the identity stays pinned.

  2. 02

    Lock the face

Six reference plates: neutral, smiling, profile, laughing, half body, full length. Every plate after the first is a new photograph conditioned on it, never an edit of it. A vision check refuses a set that disagrees with itself, and you sign it off by hand. The set is a blueprint, not a gallery.

  3. 03

    Give them a life

The people who recur, the clothes they own, the things they buy — and a calendar that runs backwards as well as forwards. The first run backfills three months, so there is a history from day one.

  4. 04Coming soon

    Let them post

Subjects come out of the calendar, so the dress in Saturday's picture is the dress the timeline says they bought on Thursday. Replies arrive at human intervals, and not to everyone.

Features

Built out of the failures.

Every rule below is there because the version without it produced something that looked generated.

  • An identity that holds

Fifteen attributes are checked before a request is sent, not after an image comes back. Drift is the thing that turns a persona back into a stock photo, so it is refused rather than reviewed.

  • Photographs, not renders

The target is a photo off someone's camera roll: available light, blown highlights, real skin texture, only the background blurred. No ring light — that flat circular catchlight is the clearest sign a picture was set up rather than taken.

  • A life that actually happened

138 event archetypes, of which 46 are deliberately not photogenic. A dentist appointment, a flu week and a stolen bike are in the catalogue on purpose: a life of nothing but photographable moments is the curated-feed look everything else exists to avoid.

  • A memory that forgets

Fifty entries, weighted one to five, grouped into people, moments and things. Forgetting happens on write and is written to the log, so you can see what dropped out and why.

  • Your models, your keys

Thirty-one AI services are configured rather than compiled in, four of them local and needing no key at all. Any OpenAI-compatible endpoint works the moment it has a URL — no code change, no release.

  • Coming soon

    Instagram, the official way

The Meta Graph API, not the reverse-engineered private one. The private API changes without notice and automating it is what gets accounts flagged — and the account at risk is the whole persona. Tokens renew themselves before the sixty-day expiry nobody remembers.

  • Coming soon

    Replies that read as human

An account that answers every comment within seconds is the clearest signal nobody is home. Delays are randomised, quiet hours are respected, and some things go unanswered.

  • Teams and organisations

Owners, admins and members, with invitations and roles. An organisation admin reaches the plan and the billing, and no persona.

  • Anything invented, correctable

Every document is editable by hand — the timeline, the cast, the wardrobe, a single memory. What the model wrote is a starting point and never the last word.

  • Rails that do not need trusting

Personas under eighteen fail to load. Clothed and non-sexual is the default. One kill switch stops every outbound request while reading and reporting continue. Nothing here spends money on its own — it pauses and sends an email instead.

“A feed whose subjects follow a life reads as a person; one whose subjects are picked independently reads as a generator.”

Providers

Bring your own everything.

Third Life calls the services you configure, with the keys you hold. Run it entirely on your own machine if you would rather nothing left it.

Personas are counted across the organisation rather than per team, because personas are what cost money and a plan bought for twenty-five is spread as you like. A paused persona still counts — pausing is instant and reversible, and it keeps the spec, the timeline, the memories and every image.

Questions

The things people ask first.

What exactly is a persona?

A folder of documents describing one synthetic person: their appearance and fifteen unchangeable attributes, their character and voice, the people in their life, what they own, what they remember, and a calendar of what has happened to them. Everything generated afterwards is generated against those documents, which is why two pictures taken a week apart agree with each other.

Does it publish to Instagram on its own?

Not yet. Connecting an Instagram Business or Creator account works today, including the token renewal, but the publishing step and the reply loop are still being built. Third Life is in early access and the roadmap above says plainly which is which.

Which AI models does it use?

The ones you choose. Thirty-one services are configured rather than compiled in — OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Groq, Mistral, DeepSeek, Replicate and the rest — plus any OpenAI-compatible endpoint you point it at. Four of them run locally and need no key. You pay those providers directly; Third Life never resells inference.

Do you store my API keys?

They are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before they are written, and scrubbed out of logs, settings output and API replies. They are yours; you can replace or remove them at any point, and doing so takes effect on the next request.

Will the pictures actually look real?

That is the whole engineering effort. Every phrase in the prompt is there because a previous one failed, and those failures are written down rather than rediscovered — no ring light, nothing asked for by prohibition, only the background blurred, never a request for darkness. Judge it yourself: you can read the exact prompt for a picture before paying to generate it.

Can I change what it invents?

All of it. Every document is editable by hand and every list item can be added, rewritten or removed. You can also steer a generation — "they are going on holiday" — and the calendar will tell you when it cannot honour that.

Is this allowed on Instagram?

Third Life uses the official Meta Graph API with an Instagram Business or Creator account and the permissions you grant it, rather than the reverse-engineered private API that gets accounts flagged. You remain responsible for following Instagram's own terms, including disclosing AI-generated content where they require it.

What about explicit content?

Clothed and non-sexual is the default, and nothing in the prompt asks for explicit content either way. A persona under eighteen fails to load and cannot be generated for at all. Each persona has a boundaries document that drives what it refuses.

Start with one sentence.

Write who they are. Third Life works out the rest.
